Tooth decay is the single most common chronic (yet preventable) childhood disease, five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever. More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental related illness, and more than 1/3 of low-income children have untreated tooth decay. Attitudes and habits established at an early age are essential in maintaining healthy smiles throughout life.

The members of the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society feel it is absolutely critical to be proactive in educating young children about the importance of dental health care. In an effort to support the relevance and urgency of oral health education in our schools and our homes, the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society is proud to sponsor the following community services:

School Dental Presentation Center

Dental and oral health teaching aids and supplies are available for use at no charge to member dentists and their staff members, dental students and educators. All items must be reserved in advance and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Supplies are limited. Please contact (303) 488-9700, ext. 3270 for more information. Presentation Speakers

Looking for a dentist to speak directly to your class or group about the importance of oral health? If so, please contact us, pr@mddsdentist.com, and we will try to place a member dentist in your classroom or at your event. We appreciate as much advance notice as possible. If you need a dental speaker at an event, i.e. Health Fair or Career Fair, please contact us as soon as you set the date to allow volunteer dentists scheduling flexibility.

Youth Pass Program

High school students interested in dental careers are invited and encouraged to attend the region's premier dental convention, the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention at no charge. The Convention features over 300 dental exhibits that showcase the latest dental equipment, technology and services and dental experts from across the country discussing the most recent discoveries in oral health and upcoming trends in modern dentistry.
