Stem Cells: Emerging Medical and Dental Therapies and the Dental Professional

Presented by: Gregory Chotkowski, DMD:  President of StemSave, Inc.

The Dental Professional will play an important role in both the recovery and the future use of stem cells in Dental and Medical regenerative and personalized therapies.

The emerging field of “Personalized Medicine” is a popular topic in the media and generally refers to new medical technologies derived from a patient’s own stem cells.   Within the context of Adult Dental Stem Cells, recent findings and scientific research supports the therapeutic use of the extremely potent mesenchymal stem cells found within the healthy pulp of deciduous and permanent teeth, as well as other accessible tissues harvested from within the oral cavity.  Their use can be applied to a multitude of regenerative and personalized medical therapies.  As clinical studies continue to advance in the coming years, it is widely accepted that in order to avoid autoimmune rejection from donor tissues - while simultaneously maximizing on therapeutic efficacy - stem cells will be used to generate individualized “patient specific” treatments.  Within the field of Dentistry, stem cells will be used for the following: the regeneration of dentin and/or dental pulp; the creation of biologically-viable scaffolds for the replacement of orofacial bone and cartilage, and; the partial or complete regeneration of defective salivary glands.

What you will learn from this course:

  • The basic science of the different types of stem cells;
  • The various available sources for recovery of Adult Stem Cells from within - and outside  the oral cavity, as well as advantages and disadvantages of each source;
  • The benefits of recovering and cryopreserving Dental Stem Cells;
  • The clinical relevance of recovering Dental Stem Cells;
  • The potential uses of Dental Stem Cells and their role in regenerative therapies.

RESULTS: While the promise of the immense scope and magnitude that stem cell therapies will have upon the population will only be fully realized in the future, Dental Professionals know that the critical time to act is now.  The available opportunities to recover and cryopreserve patients’ Dental Stem Cells will have the greatest future impact if seized upon while their patients are young and healthy.

In addition, we will be hosting a wine tasting networking event before the course where you will be able to taste up to 36 different wines from various areas of the world. The wine you taste that evening will be for sale at deeply discounted prices! Make plans to treat yourself - and a friend - to this dynamic tasting event partnered with a hot topic course everyone will enjoy.
