Applied Strategic Planning Committee
Responsible for the periodic evaluation of Society’s direction and purpose. Committee members focus on identification/prioritization of objectives/goals to establish a long-term strategic plan that will guide the Society’s responsiveness to MDDS member needs and values. Time commitment: 1 meeting per year
Budget Committee
Responsible for the annual assessment of the Society’s financial operations. Committee members develop an annual budget of anticipated income and projected expenditures for presentation to the Board of Directors. The Committee makes recommendations for non-dues income activities and for increases in membership dues. Time commitment: 1 meeting per year
Bylaws Committee
Responsible for the annual review of the Society’s Constitution and Bylaws. Committee members review and submit proposed revisions and amendments to the current Constitution and Bylaws in order to ensure consistency with MDDS programs and policies.
Time commitment: 1 meeting per year
Metro Denver Dental Foundation (MDDF) Steering Committee
Responsible for the promotion of dental health through community service. Committee members identify, develop and promote access-to-dental-care opportunities for metro area communities. Time commitment: 3 meetings per year. The Committee facilitates the following:
Communications Committee
Responsible for enhancement of the MDDS Articulator Magazine, the Society’s membership publication, and web site. Committee members review and evaluate the content, design and distribution of the Articulator and make recommendations for improvement.Time commitment: 2 meetings per year
Member Services Committee
Responsible for membership recruitment and retention. Committee members identify membership needs and develop benefits and services that address them.Time commitment: 4 meetings per year
Convention Arrangements Committee
Responsible for all aspects of the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention. Committee members focus on the planning, coordination and development of the Society’s annual convention. Sub-committees include:
Leadership Development Committee
Responsible for the nomination and voting process for Society elections. Committee members monitor the annual elections for the MDDS Board of Director, Officer and Trustee positions and secure member delegates to represent MDDS at the Colorado Dental Association’s Annual Session. Time commitment: 1 meeting per year
Patient Relations/Peer Review Committee
Responsible for resolving differences of opinion between a member dentist and patient. Committee members evaluate patient complaints against member dentists for arbitration consideration and serve as mediators between dentist and patient. Time commitment: committee meets as needed
Continuing Education Committee
Responsible for Society-wide clinical, technical and business continuing education planning. Committee members research and develop annual MDDS schedule of educational topics, speakers, venues and formats to fulfill needs of target audiences. Time commitment: 4 meetings per year
Public Relations Committee
Responsible for organizational relationship development with the public, media and other healthcare organizations. Committee members develop activities and utilize the local media to educate the community about issues related to the practice of dentistry and the promotion of oral health. Time commitment: 4 meetings per year
Sponsorship Committee
Responsible for acquiring sponsorship and strategically planning a society-wide approach to this acquisition. Time commitment: 1 meeting per year
Student Education Taskforce
Responsible for introducing dental students to the importance of organized dentistry. Committee members serve as a direct liaison to Denver’s dental education institutions, communicating directly with each student body to determine what financial and mentoring needs MDDS can fill. Time commitment: 2 meetings per year
