Implant Placement & Reconstruction: Patient Consultation & Treatment Planning

Q: I don't do implant placement or reconstruction in my office. Should this be presented as a part of the patient consultation and treatment planning?

A: Based on your overall evaluation of the patient, if implants are or could be an option, then it should be discussed and a referral made. Likewise, if the patient is not a candidate for implants, a discussion of the reasons why should be made and be well documented.
